Welcome to ISAM 2011 Rotterdam
On behalf of the ISAM organizing committee I welcome you to the ISAM 2011 congress website. We are in full action to prepare an exciting congress which will take place in De Doelen Congress Centre in the heart of Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
The world of medical aerosols is moving fast forward in many areas in an increasingly demanding regulatory environment. ISAM is a global organization for all disciplines involved in aerosols in medicine. Our meetings bring together aerosol scientists, clinicians, respiratory therapists, regulatory specialists, pharmacists and industry from all over the world. ISAM 2011 will offer a program and scale which allows maximal interaction between participants. For young talents, ISAM 2011 will offer plenty of opportunities to meet with established scientists. We aim for a friendly scientific atmosphere where many collaborations, new ideas and concepts can emerge.
For the first time the scientific program has been put together using the structured input of the membership organized in scientific groups. Topics covered will be in the forefront of aerosol medicine for a wide pallet of diseases. Examples are diseases such as asthma, COPD, critical care patients, and orphan diseases such as cystic fibrosis, and pulmonary hypertension. Other issues are environmental aerosols and regulatory.
The conference is being held in the beautiful Willem Burger Complex of De Doelen Congress Centre which is located next to the railway station in the heart of the city.
Rotterdam is a very modern and exciting city. It has one of the largest ports of the world. Just sit down at a terrace along the ‘Nieuwe Maas river’ and watch the endless stream of cargo ships passing under the beautiful Erasmus bridge. This bridge connects the centre of the city to the fashionable ‘Kop van Zuid’, where a wide selection of excellent restaurants await you. Famous museums such as the Boijmans and Kunsthal but also restaurants, hotels, and plenty of shops are all within walking distance of De Doelen. Beautiful other cities such as Delft (15 min), Utrecht (35 min) and Amsterdam (55 min) can all be easily reached by train.
By air Rotterdam can be reached via Rotterdam airport, or Amsterdam Schiphol airport but also by fast train connections from Germany and France. A three hours train ride will bring you to Paris.
